Abstract

Academic achievement is an important indicator in assessing educational success. Internal factors such as Growth Mindset and GRIT play a significant role in determining this achievement. Observations conducted at several junior high schools in Pesawaran Regency revealed that many students tend to give up easily, lack self-confidence, and are not persistent in their studies. This study aims to determine the influence of Growth Mindset on academic achievement, the influence of GRIT on academic achievement, and the combined influence of Growth Mindset and GRIT on the academic achievement of junior high school students in Pesawaran Regency. The results are expected to serve as a basis for improving the quality of learning through strengthening students’ psychological aspects.
This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires. The questionnaires were used to assess students’ levels of academic achievement, with a sample consisting of 33 Buddhist students. Data analysis was performed using regression analysis.
The results showed that Growth Mindset contributed 75% to academic achievement, while GRIT contributed 51.8%. Simultaneously, these two variables had a significant effect, with a combined contribution of 75%. These findings indicate that a growth-oriented mindset and perseverance are important non-cognitive factors that drive students’ academic success. Therefore, strengthening Growth Mindset and GRIT should be an integral part of educational strategies to improve the quality of learning in regions with social and geographical diversity, such as Pesawaran Regency.
