Abstract

Researchers conducted research at the SMA Bodhisattva Bandar Lampung to find problems in student learning such as the lack of independence in student learning. Based on the observation conducted visible the behaviour of the lack of independence in student learning as the students do not have the initiative in learning the, are too late to follow the learning, are less active and participatory learning, can not answer the teacher's question, less serious in learning the, learning only if it gets command of teachers and cheating. The emergent behaviour is based on the emotion that is inside so that the necessary emotional intelligence to change the behaviour of the students in learning. The problems that arise from researchers interested in studying the effect of emotional intelligence on the learning independence of students who take the Buddha's teaching religious education in SMA Bodhisattva Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2014/2015.
The actions or activities undertaken by each student (people) appear to be preceded by a state of mind or emotion that is inside so the need for intelligence to process these emotions into something positive and beneficial to students. Students who are able to control every emotion inside means the student are able to determine the direction, and purpose in the way of learning without having ruled or controlled by another person or the students have had to independence learn.
The method used in this research is using descriptive quantitative research using the Likert scale model. Analysis of the data used is simple regression. Results of the analysis are presented in the form of numbers which are then described and interpreted in a description.
Based on the test results the influence of emotional intelligence on the students learning independence with a value of t = 23.063, p = 0.000 <0.05, which shows the positive influence of emotional intelligence to the independence of student learning. The coefficient of determination R square shows the effect value of 93.8% and 6.2% influenced by other factors.
Based on the research conducted, the researchers conclude that there is The Effect of emotional intelligence on the learning independence of high school students Bodhisattva-Lampung in the academic year 2014/2015. Hoped that the result of this research can provide benefit with the reader about the importance of emotional intelligence to increase the learning independence of the student.
