Abstract
This research aims to know the raising of student motivation by Application of Visual Media-Based Learning Method With Pictures at Bodhisattva junior high school. Student motivation is important to achieve the aim of the study process. The problems that often occur in the study process are there is the student with less attention when the teacher explains the lesson, the students often chat when the study is going on, the students are lazy and do not have spirit, and less motivation to learn.
Visual media with pictures is the media that is capable to draw attention and expedite the student's comprehension. picture media is an effective learning method to awaken student motivation. Student motivation is the effort to push the volition and the desire to do something particularly study.
Design of the research in this thesis using the approach of applying classroom action research. Classroom action research, including qualitative research although the data collected, could be quantitative. Classroom action research with the kind of participants, action research participants are researchers directly involved in the research process from the beginning up to the reported results of the study. The object of this research is the students in grade VII at Bodhisattva junior high school which amount to 19 students and research was done in two cycles.
The result of this research indicates the Application of the Visual Media-Based Learning Method With Picture can raise student motivation in grade vii at Subjects Education on Buddhism at Bodhisattva junior high school. The result of this escalation is indicated by the implementation of the first cycle until the second cycle. The average student motivation achieves 59,83% in the first cycle and 88,16% in the second cycle. So the raising from the first cycle to the second cycle was 28,33%.
Based on the analysis in this study we concluded that the visual media-based learning methods with images can raise students' motivation. This research can be useful to the reader as a new reference material special in the learning process, and the teachers can increase students' motivation through visual media images.
