Abstract
Buddhist Learning Bodhisattva Elementary School Class V is still less Self-learning because students still have less absorptive, disturbing and mocking friends and lack the spirit to learn when learning takes place. So that makes the classroom atmosphere not conducive. To overcome these problems, classroom action research aimed to improve the learning process. Improvement of this learning using discussion methods that students are expected to learn independently. Independent learning is the learning done by the students freely determine the learning objectives, the direction of learning, planning the learning process, learning strategies, using learning resources to choose, making academic decisions, and performing activities to achieve goals bljarnya. The discussion method is an interaction between students and students or students analyze, solve problems, and debate a particular topic or problem.
This study is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles and consists of four meetings. The subjects of the study were the students of Grade V SD Bodhisattva in the academic year 2016/2017 which amounted to 30 students. the data collected in the form of student value data (pre-action and evaluation), the results of observation and interview results. Data collection is done by using questions, observation sheets, interviews, and documentation.
The result of the research proves that the effort to improve self-study by using the method of discussion on the study of Buddhist teachings of class V SD Bodhisatva. The increase in results was seen in the first cycle implementation at the first meeting of the 68% learning result at the end of the second meeting of the learning outcomes 75% of the increase in the first and second meeting was 7%. In the second cycle, the third meeting of observations reached 79% and the last meeting of the fourth meeting increased by 86%.
Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the independent study using the discussion method has increased with the acquisition result of 86% observation sheet. Discussion methods for improving self-care can also be applied by teachers to optimize the learning process of Buddhist Education.
