Abstract

Communication is the most important means used in the learning process. The existence of communication in learning can lead to more active learning. The low communication skills possessed by students are related to their ability to speak. The ability to speak is needed by students when learning takes place, communicating with friends and discussing. The thing that needs to be considered in everyday life when communicating is to speak properly and correctly. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of intrapersonal intelligence on the speaking skills of students of STIAB Jinarakkhita class XVII in 2021. Researcher was interested in taking the title of this study because they found several problems that occurred including students are having problems understanding the material, the lack of interaction between students with lecturers and with other students, students have lack confidence when speaking and students still have problems expressing their ideas and opinions. The method in this study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The subjects of this study were students of STIAB Jinarakkhita class XVII with a total of 26 students. Methods of data collection used observation and questionnaires (questionnaires). The data analysis technique was carried out by descriptive analysis and statistical analysis prerequisite tested using excel and the SPSS 20 program.

Based on the results of the study, it provides a real picture that there is a significant influence between the variables of intrapersonal intelligence on the variable of speaking skills of the students of STIAB Jinarakkhita class XVII in 2021. The criteria for testing the hypothesis is to reject Ho if t count > t table and vice versa. For the t distribution used dk = (n-2) and a =0.05. Based on the analysis of the data obtained t arithmetic = 8.618 while the t table with n = 26 and a = 0.05 obtained 1.711. Then it can be seen that t count > t table (8.618>1.711) or sig (0.000 <0.05), so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so that there is an influence of intrapersonal intelligence on the speaking skills of STIAB Jinarakkhita students of class XVII in 2021. The influence of intrapersonal intelligence on the speaking skills of STIAB Jinarakkhita students of class XVII in 2021 is 75.6%.
