Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on student behavior research was conducted because of the lack of motivation in learning student so that when a student's behavior is less well studied. The research was conducted at Xavier Junior High School 1 Palembang.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to motivate oneself, overcoming frustration, impulse control, regulate mood, empathy and the ability to work. Learning behavior is a learning process that is done repeatedly from not knowing to knowing and of not understanding be understood so as to achieve the desired goals of the individual. In the learning process necessary to learn appropriate behavior with the purpose of education, where the learning behavior of the educational goals can be achieved effectively and efficiently, so that academic achievement can be improved.
The method used in this research is using descriptive quantitative research methods. Research subjects are junior high school students of class XII Xaverius 1 Palembang 2014/2015 school year totaling 154 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire with Likert scale. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis approach.
Based on data analysis of the obtained average value on emotional intelligence by 36% are classified in the appropriate categories / high level of emotional intelligence. While studying the behavior of the average values obtained by 38% and were classified in the appropriate categories / high levels of learning behavior. Simple linear regression test results show the results obtained by value t = 11.660 and Sig = 0.000 ,. Interpretation of the results obtained by the Sig 0,000 = 0% <5% means Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. While the R-square value in this study is 0.786, which means that emotional intelligence impact on student learning behavior of 78,6%.
Based on the results of data analysis has been carried out it was concluded that there is the influence of emotional intelligence on the behavior of students of class IX variety of Buddhist in junior Xaverius 1 Palembang academic year 2014/2015. The big influence was 78,6 and still have 22,4% of student learning behavior is influenced by other factors.Researchers suggested to the revelant parties to make the efforts so that student in grade IX is a buddhist in junior high school 1 Palembang to cultivate emotional intelligence is good that in process of learning have good manners.
