Abstract

Based on the background of the problems that occur when learning in class that students still lack a passion for learning, lack of support from parents, lack of liveliness and creativity, lack of initiative, lack of awareness and will in this belajar.Penelitian aims to determine the effect of viriya (spirit ) against the independence of students of class IX SMP Tri Ratna West Jakarta.
Enterprises or the spirit of the student in education is studied assiduously, diligently creative, and active. The spirit of the students in the learning process will make changes from the inside. It is closely related to the learning process without the help of others or learn on their own. Independent learning or independent learning is a way of active learning and participation to develop the individual that is not tied to the presence of learning, face-to-face meeting attendance in class and school friends.
This research was conducted with descriptive quantitative research methods. This type of research that the researchers use a Field Research, which examined the influence Viriya (spirit) of the Independence Junior High School Students' Learning Triratna West Jakarta.Measures used by collecting data using questionnaires, analyze the data and make conclusions and suggestions. The object of research is the students of class IX SMP Tri Ratna in academic year 2016/2017.
Based on the results of data processing that has been done can be seen that there is influence viriya (spirit) to the independence of students of class IX SMP Tri Ratna West Jakarta in academic year 2016/2017. The major influence is 34.2%.While 66.8% viriya (spirit) of students influenced by other factors.
Viriya (spirit) affect the independence of student learning, the authors propose the following suggestions: Students should write a daily schedule to always remember and easier to learn, students should have the initiative during the process pembeljaran take place in class so that learning is not likely to get bored, and students should be more focus when the learning begins and pay attention to what will be delivered by the teacher, so it should be able to understand the material that has been given.
