Abstract
Learning in Buddhist Sunday school there are still problems for some students who have less absorption, the methods used are still less varied and the facilities and infrastructure are inadequate. To overcome this problem, qualitative research is carried out which aims to improve the learning process. This learning improvement uses a case study method which is expected to enable students to learn actively and independently in the Dharma Vimala Sunday School. Motivation to learn is an intellectual psychological factor whose role can make students feel happy and excited while studying. In addition, there are two factors that influence student learning motivation, namely internal and external factors. There are three factors contained in internal motivation, including: 1) Desire 2) Expectation 3) Need. Meanwhile, there are three factors in external motivation, namely: 1) Increase knowledge 2) Teaching style 3) Environmental conditions. Student learning motivation is the driving force within students that causes learning activities to obtain learning outcomes and objectives to be achieved.
The method used in this research is a qualitative method using a case study approach. The research subjects were 2 Buddhist Sunday school students. Data collected were in the form of observations and interviews as well as observations. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that there are several internal factors that influence students to participate in Buddhist Sunday school activities, namely the spirit from within the students. There is an influence of external motivation that affects the learning process in Sunday school, namely the teaching style of the teacher, insufficient facilities and infrastructure.
